One of the biggest perks of remote work? Flexibility.

Vet appointment or client meeting? Article deadline or birthday dinner? With remote work, it feels like we can do it all.

But here’s the catch: when everything blends together, nothing truly gets our full attention. According to Elizabeth Grace Saunders in the Harvard Business Review, flexible schedules can backfire—leading to blurred boundaries and eventual burnout.

And the numbers back it up: Zippia reports that 86% of remote workers experience EXTREME exhaustion.

As leaders, it’s our job to help protect our teams. That starts by role modeling healthy boundaries:
– Resist that late-night Slack.
– Avoid work emails from the beach.
– Normalize “end of day” rituals to mentally log off, and share those rituals with your team

Remote work can be sustainable—but only if we intentionally build trust by caring for our teams.
